The Oprah Winfrey Show has been featuring a series called “Clean Up Your Messy House Tour”. In part II, Peter Walsh and the Clutter Crew are in Atlanta. They attack car clutter & organize a Georgia Tech frat room. To all you parents who did not think this was possible, think again. Check out the pictures to see the possibilities.
NEW COUPON ALERT! Originally aired in March 18, 2009, the episode was rebroadcast today July 1, 2009. The folks at The Container Store are offering 25% off through July 12th. The Container Store does not offer this type of savings often, who knows when or if this will happen again. Take advantage of the savings while you can.
*Remember – sort your ‘stuff’ first, then purchase containers that fit the ‘stuff’.
Happy Organizing!

Below is a recap from a previous post highlighting past Oprah episodes on reducing clutter & stress to simplify your life.
Did you catch Oprah on Wednesday, November 12? She kicked off her Oprah’s Clean Up Your Messy House Tour. This mulitple episode series is completely different from the two-part series Inside the Lives of Hoarders that originally aired November 16 & 17, 2007. That series was so wildly popular that it was rebroadcast March 25 & 26, 2008 and Oprah & Peter Walsh followed up with the family on Hall of Fame Guests: Where Are They Now which aired 4/28/08.
The popularity of those episodes and the necessity to declutter across the country prompted Oprah to again team up with organizing expert Peter Walsh for a cross country Clean Up Your Messy House tour. They joined forces with Devine Designs Candice Olson, Pottery Barn, West Elm, Volkswagen, and my friends at The Container Store and College Hunks Hauling Junk. The tour started in New York City but I know of plans to come to Washington, DC and Atlanta.
In addition to their clutter busting tips, Oprah also partnered with The Container Store to invite viewers to save 20% off all The Container Store purchases (some restrictions apply) (update 7/1/09 see 25% off coupon above). What a gift a month prior to the holidays! The offer was initially available for one week but The Container Store generously extended the offer thru November 30th.
My favorite new thing about The Container Store, other than saving 20% is their new Click & Pickup service.
Get this, you go to The Container Store website, shop & pay online and go pick it up at the store. It’s FREE! There are no shipping or delivery fees. It’s convenient! You choose the products you want and schedule your own pickup time at your local store. It saves time! Your order is ready when you arrive at your designated time. No waiting in line. How cool is that? You can shop on the weekend from the privacy of your own home, no lines, no fighting over parking spaces and schedule a time when the stores and parking lots are quieter to pick up your purchases. Better yet, you can apply your 20% coupon to your order online.
I know, I know… so how do you get the deal? If you want to shop online or try the Click & Pickup service, click on the link below. When you go to checkout it asks if you have a promotion code, enter CLUTTERCREW and 20% (update 7/1/09 see 25% off coupon above)is deducted from your order.
Prefer to shop in-store?. The Container Store has some of the best trained retail staff. They can not only help you find products but will also offer suggestions if you have a challenge or are working on a project. Here’s the page to print and take in the store.
Now I know you are probably as excited as I am but PLEASE remember #3 of my principles of organizing
Organizing starts at home with your stuff not at The Container Store, Target, Walmart, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Staples or wherever you shop for organizing supplies.
I can’t tell you how much money my clients have spent for me to organize their unused containers. Buy containers to fit your stuff after you have organized the stuff rather than buying containers firstand trying to make your stuff fit.
Best of luck. Have a happy & joyous Thanksgiving.
